Aston Law School aspires to equip students with the skills to succeed in careers in the law, in regulation and in businesses where the analytical and detail-conscious approach of the trained lawyer creates value. Our faculty have deep knowledge of commercial and intellectual property law, in keeping with the overall enterprise ethos of Aston University. Using mooting competitions, work placements, networking opportunities and guest speakers, we prepare our law students to be effective contributors from their first day on the job.
Law at Aston was most recently placed 7th in the UK for overall student satisfaction, achieving 94% in the National Student Survey, 2018. Our staff are leaders of legal education, as evidenced by national teaching awards and recognition at the highest level by the HEA, such as the award of National Teaching Fellowships and Principal Fellowship of the HEA. We seek to appoint a Dean of Law who will continue the growth and raise the external profile and impact of the School, as well as enhancing opportunities for research and personal development for our academic and professional staff. As post holder you will champion Aston Law School’s ethos for high-quality student support and forge relationships by engaging with the professional and business community. You will also contribute to the management of Aston Business School, of which the Law School is an integral part. This post may be of interest to a practitioner who wants to take that a different step on their career path. In addition to this post, we will offer the right candidate 50 consultancy days a year.
