Our IT Services (ITS) Project Management Office (PMO) Team are looking for an experienced Project Manager to manage a diverse range of projects across the University.
JOB PURPOSE:
To act as Project Manager for a range of smaller projects undertaken within IT Services, for the benefit of the University. To deliver the required project outputs within agreed tolerances. Projects managed will vary in scale and nature.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce the Project Initiation Definition and assist with project definition
- Manage gathering of requirements and documentation of business processes
- Agree the technical and quality strategy with appropriate members of the Project Board
- Ensure that the appropriate governance structure for the project is in place
- Plan, manage and monitor the delivery of IT projects
- Manage and motivate project teams
- Proactively manage the risks within a project and plan appropriate avoidance or reduction actions
- Assume responsibility for change control and configuration management
- Work with the Project Board, or its appointed Project Assurance roles, to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project
- Identify and secure any support and advice required for the management , planning and control of the project
- Liaise closely with stakeholders across the University to ensure that user requirements and quality expectations are properly understood, and that project communication is effective
- Produce and present management status reports for project board and steering group meetings with senior University managers
- Ensure that projects have a sound quality management process
- Manage the project budget
- Manage project resources and initiate corrective action where necessary
- Develop formal tender documents and co-ordinate procurement exercises
- Ensure that any contract documentation is appropriate for the needs of the project and the ongoing support of the relevant IT service; this will be undertaken in conjunction with the appropriate Service Owner, the Resources Team, the Purchasing Office and the Deputy Registrar’s Office, as appropriate.
- Champion the benefits of effective project management within IT Services and the wider University
- Contribute to discussions regarding the on-going development and enhancement of project management strategies, policies and documentation
