Detailed Description
The Student Admissions and Administration Directorate supports Muscat University’s vision by facilitating key aspects of the student lifecycle, providing essential administrative services to Muscat University students and faculties from application, to enrolment and to graduation. The Registrar and Director effectively leads and manages the Directorate to ensure the ongoing provision of high-quality, student-centric services. Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Finance and Administration, the Registrar and Director will develop and implement strategies and infrastructure to support priority areas. The Registrar and Director, Admissions and Student Administration, has responsibility for establishing and monitoring strategies, policies, procedures and implementation plans to ensure the highest possible quality of student experience for all the University’s programmes, including the Pathway Programmes, the degree programmes and the Executive Education and CPD courses and programmes. The appointee will also be responsible for the development and execution of strategic initiatives to promote and expand these policies, procedures and implementation plans. Working closely with the Marketing and Student Recruitment department, and other relevant Muscat University teams, the appointee will be accountable for developing and managing the student admissions, enrolment, academic progress, student support and graduation processes to maximise the quality of the student experience. The appointee will ensure that the student administration and support processes for Muscat University effectively serve selective and demanding multi-cultural student cohorts ready to make a significant personal and financial commitment to a high-quality education. The appointee will also be closely involved in Muscat University’s programmes locally, regionally and internationally by supporting various marketing, recruitment and admissions initiatives. |

Main skills and experience required: •Significant leadership skills and proven effectiveness in senior management; •High level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions; •Excellent knowledge and understanding of student administration and student information systems; •Proven knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of the Higher Education sector; and •Proven ability to provide expert, high quality, well-informed advice with a consideration to implications for the wider organisation, government and community. Person Specification •A clear track record of complete personal and professional integrity and of a commitment to equality and diversity at all levels; •A proven track record of excellence in leadership and management at a senior level within the areas of student administration, preferably within a higher education institution; •Strong intellectual leadership and credibility, with the ability to maintain the respect and confidence of multiple stakeholders including faculty, staff and students; •High-level strategic thinking, problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills; •Excellent ambassadorial skills enabling the building and maintaining of strong relationships with external partners including academics, parents, students and prospective sponsors as well as senior members of international affiliate institutions; •A good knowledge and understanding of international higher education policies, practices and norms relating to the areas of marketing, recruitment and admissions and a commitment to internationalisation; •Experience of working in the Middle East and/or experience of working closely with partners from theMiddle East region;
