As part of our continuing expansion and development we are looking to strengthen our team by recruiting a Senior Teaching Fellow in Freight Transport Management. Teaching will cover all modes of transport and intermodal approaches with a focus on international supply chains.
You will be involved in the design, organisation, delivery, management and administration of teaching programmes up to MSc level, in addition to the supervision of Project Students up to Doctoral level (depending on qualifications) in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment.
You should hold an Honours degree (or higher qualification) in an engineering, technical, business or supply chain related discipline and have significant practical experience of physical logistics and distribution. You will also need to be versatile, possess excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to operate in a flexible team environment. Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
To undertake teaching in the field of freight transport management to postgraduate and post-qualification levels. This will include supervision of research students and student projects from undergraduate up to doctoral level. There will be a requirement to teach overseas.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To deliver teaching in the field of transport management including road, rail, air, water and intermodal transport in a local, national and international context. Teaching activities include lectures, seminars and small group work, including assessment, preparing students for projects, project supervision, marking of assignments and dissertations using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods in order to support the work of the department and develop and enhance its reputation, internally and externally.
2. To supervise research students and student projects up to doctoral level (depending on qualifications). Set, mark and assess work and examinations and provide timely feedback to students.
3. To contribute to the planning, design, organisation and development of objectives and materials for courses, which includes identifying areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement.
4. To teach overseas at WMG’s teaching centres, as required.
5. To be able to draw on examples from practical experience working in international logistics and transportation to contextualise and provide a vivid learning experience.
6. To challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.
7. To participate in and develop internal and external networks, contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work and contribute to the identification of sources of funding and the process of securing funds for scholarly activities.
8. To undertake any other duties, such as administration and pastoral care of students, as required.
