To provide academic leadership, developing and enhancing the research, teaching and external engagement activities of the Business and Law Schools.
Our faculty have deep knowledge of commercial and intellectual property law, in keeping with the overall enterprise ethos of Aston University. Using mooting competitions, work placements, networking opportunities and guest speakers, we prepare our law students to be effective contributors from their first day on the job.
Law at Aston was most recently placed 7th in the UK for overall student satisfaction, achieving 94% in the National Student Survey, 2018. Our staff are leaders of legal education, as evidenced by national teaching awards, recognition at the highest level by the HEA and by the award of National Teaching Fellowships. Aston University as an institution received the Gold award – the highest possible accolade in the Government’s new Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). We are particularly pleased with these achievements in light of the diversity of our student body.
We are also pleased with the contributions that our wide-ranging research, particularly on subjects that are commercially relevant, have made to legal theory and legal practice. The Law School’s scholarship has the same spirit, of useful impact, that informs our teaching.
