The Estates Office plays a vital role in helping to achieve this goal by managing and growing the University’s land and property portfolio. We have an exciting opportunity for a new Asbestos Manager to join the Warwick family and support the Compliance and Assurance team.
The post holder will be responsible for the safe management of Asbestos containing materials and ensuring our contractors and direct employed staff are working safely through the provision of suitable training, effective procedures and the administration of our Electronic Asbestos Register.
The post holder will possess Asbestos related qualifications such as the BOHS S301/W504 and or P402, P405, P407 and a recognised health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
Duties will include providing specialist advice to Estates and other departments across the University, organising and delivering asbestos awareness and procedural training, managing asbestos surveying consultants and asbestos removal contractors and overseeing the ongoing management and upkeep of the Universities Electronic Asbestos register, to ensure that the information recorded is accurate and up to date in line with the University’s code of practice, policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who, among other qualities, can demonstrate:
- Significant experience of developing, implementing and maintaining Asbestos Management processes.
- An up to date knowledge of Asbestos Health and Safety legislation, Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance.
- Experience of preparing and delivering asbestos training to a diverse range of people.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to advise, support, challenge and explain complex information to multiple stakeholders and to form strong working relationships with colleagues across a large organisation.
