To support its long-term ambitions, the University has committed to delivering its biggest capital investment programme . This programme will transform the University’s estate, creating a world-class campus that enhances teaching, research, collaboration and the student experience, while providing the foundations for future success.
The most significant projects within this programme are the landmark STEM Connect and Social Sciences Connect Programme developments, together with a range of major interfacing projects. As these major schemes progress through complex construction and delivery phases, exceptional leadership is required to ensure successful delivery.
The University is entering a pivotal period in the transformation of its campus and therefore to ensure the successful delivery of these strategically important projects, we are seeking an exceptional Director of Construction. This role will provide senior construction leadership, delivery assurance and resilience across our most complex and high-profile developments. It will be critical in ensuring construction activities are executed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption, while maintaining confidence in programme outcomes across a live campus environment.
This role provides specialist construction leadership at the stages where construction methodology, logistics, contractor performance and interface management have the greatest potential to impact institutional operations, programme affordability, schedule certainty, health and safety performance, and confidence in successful delivery.
The role is particularly significant as the University is adopting Construction Management as a new approach to delivery models for major projects. The successful candidate will establish standards, manage complex interfacing projects and provide oversight to ensure the successful delivery of two world-leading academic developments.
