Research Services
This full-time post is available from January 2023 on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
This is a brand new and exciting role supporting the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research & Impact and the Divisional Director of Research to deliver on our Research and Innovation Strategy, and will represent the University nationally and internationally, establishing and leading University relationships. Our education agenda is equally important to our success, and the Director will work with colleagues across the university to contribute to the wider student experience.
You will be responsible for:
- research infrastructure planning, facilitating sustainability and external income generation and leading the University’s Technicians Commitment as a key component of its research culture;
- strategic leadership through the development and implementation of an institutional strategic plan for Technical Services provision to the University, Facilities, Institutes, Schools and Departments;
- coherent leadership to a diverse and large team of around 230 staff of technical services and facilities staff
- management and development of our specialist facilities
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about technical services and staff and their contributions to our academic endeavours. You will have substantive strategic leadership and operational management experience in a large complex organisation, with technical knowledge and expertise related to research infrastructure and capital development. You should have strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, excellent organisational management and communication skills and be an excellent networker, able to represent the University on the regional, national and international stage.
