This is an exciting opportunity to join the University Finance Office, providing dedicated support to Warwick Medical School. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Research), responsible for a portfolio of projects, the successful candidate will regularly liaise with Academic Principal Investigator’s within the Medical School to update them on the financial position of each research project, advising them on utilising the funds available and helping them navigate the financial regulations and funder rules.
The Management Accountant (Research) post supports the Finance Manager (Research) with duties such as preparation of the quarterly financial forecasts and the annual 5 year financial plan for research activities as well as the production of management information and reports for the Dean and the School Management Team.
This post will also support in identifying and implementing process improvement and provide school wide analysis and support where needed.
Being located in Warwick Medical School supports positive working relationships with academic colleagues, allows for a better understanding of challenges and enables swift, efficient support. There are regular department-wide activities and events which allow knowledge sharing, collaboration and networking.
What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?
Educated to honours degree level or having equivalent experience, the successful candidate will draw on their expertise gained in obtaining a professional accounting qualification, and financial management experience preferably including experience in the public/not for profit sector. With experience of research financial processes and the issues involved in making research grant applications, the successful candidate will implement their experience of budgeting and monitoring complex activities.
The successful candidate will use their excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to work collaboratively with a diverse set of audiences, engaging with and explaining difficult concepts, supported by good analytical and problem-solving skills.
The appointed candidate will be required to work from the University of Warwick campus for a minimum of three set days per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The hybrid working model could be subject to change.
