Job Purpose
To design, develop, manage, curate and deliver a range of OD and L&D services, projects, programmes and interventions to support the development of organisational capability (culture, skills, behaviours, and performance) within staff Researcher community. To manage the central staff induction and welcome processes. Working with relevant internal and external stakeholders and colleagues to ensure effective diagnosis, engagement, change management, benefits realisation, impact measurement and ongoing learning and improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
⦁ Proactively contribute to the identification of development needs in response to strategic, local, sector and professional / technical drivers or legislation
⦁ Programme manage, curate, design, develop, deliver, review and evaluate an expanding provision of learning interventions and programmes to support the professional, personal, technical/ functional, mandatory, career and talent management and development and leadership and management skills for particular staff cohorts. Ensuring synergy, co-ordination and logical economies of scale and efficiencies with other programmes, services, sustainable resource development and OD provision.
⦁ Working with OD colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive provision of welcome and induction for academic colleagues
⦁ Ensure content and process meets both compliance and staff engagement expectations
⦁ Undertake departmental / University wide consultancy and bespoke work in support of individual/ team/ cohort/ unit development. Working closely with HR colleagues and engaging fully with all relevant stakeholders, to plan, design, deliver and evaluate services, where appropriate utilising existing resources or aiming to develop sustainable resources for use with future other client groups.
⦁ Provide input and specialist knowledge to support and deliver relevant unit, group and individual interventions and projects e.g. facilitation, coaching, psychometric feedback, learning sets, organisation design.
⦁ Effective planning, management, monitoring and reporting of spend against allocated budgets / funding streams, forecasting future requirements, identify future efficiencies, highlighting and responding to issues ensuring best value for money provision.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
⦁ Degree or equivalent level of attainment (E)
⦁ Relevant membership of professional body or professional qualification (or equivalent experience) (E)
⦁ Working with and supporting researcher development and an appreciation of key systems, culture, challenges, and development frameworks for researchers (E)
⦁ Developing and designing a range of high quality and impactful learning interventions (E)
⦁ Operational and budget management of programmes, services, projects (E)
⦁ Evaluating, reviewing impact, reporting and recommending improvement of services and provision (E)
⦁ Demonstrable application of specialist OD skills e.g. coaching (E)
⦁ Up to date knowledge of learning and development methods and approaches across full learning cycle e.g. blended learning, social learning, (E)
⦁ Strong delivery and facilitation skills working with small and large groups, including senior colleagues to achieve agreed outcomes (E)
⦁ Ability to consult effectively with client groups and stakeholders; demonstrate effective diagnosis skills to identify key issues and determine appropriate outcomes, acting as critical friend as required (E)
⦁ Appreciation of principles and approaches of effective change and project management and supporting others through change (D)
⦁ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships, deal with sensitive and confidential issues and work with and influence senior colleagues (E)
⦁ Capable of, and proven success in working co-operatively with colleagues in a team and wider University context, identifying opportunities for collaborations and synergies. Commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful working environment. (E)
⦁ High level of organisation and ability to manage a varied and demanding workload, both independently and by working collaboratively with others, negotiating assistance where appropriate (E)
⦁ Good IT skills and ability to work with technology and understand the principles and approaches of blended learning provision (E)
⦁ Delegated budget management up to £30K
⦁ Design, develop and implement new services, operational management of defined programmes / projects / activities
