This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving University in support of the University’s enterprise level IT systems and infrastructure. You will be involved in the wide ranging development and operation activities of the IT Core Services team, leading the administration and management of the virtual and physical servers, storage systems and software that form the critical core services.
The post-holder’s primary responsibility will be to manage the day to day operation of enterprise level IT datacentres and range of critical services delivered. You will identify, design and create new IT services and their appropriate infrastructure as well as, plan, manage and participate in the projects arising from these. You will also perform trend analyses of the services and define and document operations procedures. You will be a primary contact for new server and storage service requests and incident reporting, supporting a community of 21,300 students and 2,600 staff.
The ideal candidate will have in depth technical knowledge of Fibre Channel, virtual SAN technology, storage area networks, server virtualisation, enterprise backup infrastructure and operational monitoring tools. Technical architecture experience building virtual server and storage infrastructures would be a distinct advantage. You will be enthusiastic, looker for personal development, and have good documentation and communication skills.
Practical experience in a lead data centre operations role within IT and a degree or equivalent of training in logical analysis of abstract systems, problem determination and diagnosis is essential.
