Job Purpose
To be a part of the team in WMG supporting apprentices on their undergraduate and postgraduate apprenticeships. To work with the programme teams (client relationship managers and academic leads) within WMG and with the team in DIET to ensure progress of the apprentices. To ensure that students maintain appropriate evidence and that both informal and contractual ongoing reporting is completed
Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) continue to work very closely with Dyson, following the first cohort of the Degree apprenticeship starting in September 2017. The successful postholder will be based in The Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology (DIET) at Malmesbury, with occasional visits to WMG and obviously contact with the regular visiting and delivering WMG staff. The majority of the tutor’s role will involve regular tripartite reviews with the apprentices, their line managers and ongoing collaboration with the DIET apprentice support team. WMG’s current involvement with the Dyson apprentices will finish in September 2024, therefore this vacancy is indefinite linked to ongoing funding. A thorough understanding of apprenticeship compliance is essential as is an understanding of the challenges facing undergraduate apprentices. Experience of working with apprentices in an engineering or technology environment would be beneficial.
Duties and Responsibilities
To work with the academic and compliance teams in WMG and with DIET colleagues to encourage and support all apprentices to progress through the apprenticeship and to prepare them for End point assessment
- To work with apprentices, and their work place mentors or line managers, to ensure that individual learning plans (ILPs) are developed and maintained.
- To support apprenticeship progress throughout the programme and act as personal tutor.
- To work with the designated End point assessment organisation and prepare Apprentices for EPA
- To lead on ongoing progress reviews
- To maintain all compliance documentation

Administration and Other Activities
To review progress against these ILPs, provide appropriate coaching support for apprentices where required and work with academic teams to ensure that individual or cohort issues are identified in a timely way and individual apprentice progress is noted and apprentices at risk are identified and mitigations devised and agreed
- To provide reports and updates to WMG leadership as required and regular and ad hoc information to DIET team where agreed and appropriate
- To ensure that apprentice learner evidence is maintained and submitted as required to allow levy funding to be drawn down, working closely with compliance lead
- To maintain strong client relationships and work with team at DIET and apprentices line managers
- To keep up to date with the legal and administrative requirements concerning Apprenticeships and the Apprenticeship levy; OFSTED requirements and with regional and national skills agendas.
- To undertake specific departmental roles as may be required.
- To engage and attend departmental meetings and to participate, as appropriate, in other committees and working groups within the department, the faculty and the University.
- To participate in relevant professional activities, for example non-teaching CPD.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work and, where appropriate, undertake risk assessments.

- Where appropriate conduct individual or collaborative scholarly projects.
- Where appropriate, to develop and produce learning materials and disseminate the results of scholarly activity.
Person Specification
- A degree (2.1 or above) or equivalent E A
• Possession of a teaching qualification or HEA accreditation, or willingness to complete Warwick APPTE or seek HEA accreditation when in post E, A, c
• Demonstrable experience of work based learning, qualification frameworks and academic and vocational assessment E, A, c
• Significant experience of working in FE or HE and with employers, preferably from a number of different sectors E, A, c
• An understanding of the skills and Apprenticeship landscape and needs of work based learners E, A, c
• Highly organised with an ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline intensive environment, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy of data E, A, c
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to achieve buy-in across a spectrum of stakeholders including, academics and learning and development teams in organisations E, A, c
• Credibility with senior internal and external teams E, A, c
• Concern for maintenance of standards and quality in work based learning E, A, c
• High level of self-motivation with ability to plan and deliver goals to deadlines under pressure E, A, c
