We are currently looking for a Teaching Fellow or Senior Teaching Fellow to join our Undergraduate Programmes (UG) Team, in the area of software engineering and development. You will need a proven academic or professional track record in a field related to software engineering and development, along with experience in teaching Databases, User interface connectivity and real time systems. You will join a rapidly expanding team in the delivery of innovative Degree Apprenticeship programmes, including the established Degree Apprenticeship in Digital Technology Solutions, Applied Engineering Programme, and Dyson Engineering degree apprenticeship programme. The candidate will be working with UG team on different UG courses offered by the WMG.
The teaching and learning environment is rapidly evolving, with a distinct shift to a greater level of engagement utilising technology enabled learning and lab-based sessions, as well as more traditional lectures. You will need to demonstrate flexibility to adapt and innovate your approach to teaching and learning to embrace this evolution. Some overseas teaching may also be required.

JOB PURPOSE:
As a member of a teaching team in a developing capacity within an established programme of study, undertake teaching in the field of Software Engineering and Development in order to support the work of the department and develop and enhance its teaching reputation, both internally and externally.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and Scholarship
1. To reflect on practice and the development of own teaching and learning skills.
Teaching and Learning Support
1. To teach as a member of a teaching team in a developing capacity within an established programme of study, with the assistance of a mentor if required.
2. To develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches with guidance.
3. To identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
4. To ensure that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning objectives.
5. To supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
6. To select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.
7. To teach on and off campus, and overseas at WMGs teaching centres, as required.
Administration and Other Activities
1. To undertake duties related to course administration, such as attendance records, etc.
2. To attend departmental meetings as required.
3. May be expected to assist in the preparation of proposals or applications to external bodies.
Person Specification

Essential Criteria 1
A bachelor degree (2:1) and postgraduate qualification in the area of Software and/or Computer Engineering (a,c)
Essential Criteria 2
Significant proven experience of teaching modern database systems and techniques, including (but not limited to) relational databases, and cloud databases/ NoSQL (a,c)
Essential Criteria 3
Proven experience of teaching software engineering (a,c,d)
Essential Criteria 4
The possession of a teaching qualification or HEA accreditation, or willingness to complete Warwick APPTE or seek HEA accreditation when in post (a,c)

The ability to teach up-to-date principles and standards in application of User Interface design such as the Material Design or Human Interface Guidelines (a,c,d)

An understanding of using agile principles and techniques for software development and the ability to apply these techniques to a teaching environment (a,c,d)

Significant proven experience in design, development and delivery of teaching materials and programmes, including multimedia and online materials (a,c)
